Content Policy

The information in this document is confidential to the person to whom it is addressed and should not be disclosed to any other person. It may not be reproduced in whole, or in part, nor may any of the information contained therein be disclosed without the prior consent of ISM Connect. A recipient may not solicit, directly or indirectly (whether through an agent or otherwise) the participation of another institution or person without the prior approval of ISM. Executive Summary

ISM Connect is responsible for the creation and management of content that is displayed on the Digital Media System. It is ISM Connect’s obligation to ensure that any objectionable or unapproved content is not displayed anywhere on the Digital Media System. This is to be accomplished by following the standards and procedures outlined in this policy. Along with the listing of content restrictions, this document outlines the management process itself that is to be followed by both ISM Connect and the Landlord regarding content.


This policy applies to all content that is displayed on the Digital Media System. This includes all digital signage, mobile applications, audio announcements, “push” notifications, texts and any printed materials created in support of any campaigns under the control of ISM Connect.

Advertising Standards

ISM Connect values diversity and respect for others, and we strive to avoid offending with ads or materials that are inappropriate for our ad network. The following advertising standards and requirements shall be followed at all times by ISM Connect, its Partners and affiliates. Restrictions No advertisement or public service announcement shall be accepted by ISM Connect for display (which is to the knowledge of ISM Connect, its partners and affiliates) that violate the following restrictions:

  • 1. Advertising promoting hatred, violence, harassment, racism; sexual, religious or political intolerance, or organizations that openly support such views.
  • 2. Content that inappropriately discriminates against any person or group.
  • 3. Content that advocates for the infliction of physical injury on oneself or another person.
  • 4. Content that promotes cruelty or gratuitous violence towards animals.
  • 5. Content that may be deemed as capitalizing on or lacking reasonable sensitivity towards a natural disaster, conflict, death or other tragic event.
  • 6. Content that’s likely to be generally found shocking or disgusting.
  • 7. Content that’s exploitative or appears to unfairly capitalize at the expense of others.
  • 8. Advertising promoting the sale or use of alcohol, guns/firearms or tobacco.
  • 9. False, misleading or deceptive (which shall not apply to any advertising promotional statements, or claims that involve puffery) content.
  • 10. Clearly defamatory, obscene or pornographic according to local community standards.
  • 11. In advocacy of unlawful activities.
  • 12. Advertisements of a political or editorial or election nature, either for a specific candidate(s) or an issue(s), are to contain the statement. “Paid for By {sponsor’s name}”; including (when an election campaign is involved) the State committee number, if applicable, in bold type with letters at least three inches (3”) high and shall comply with any then-existing laws regarding political advertising.

Content Clarification

The Landlord may request ISM Connect, as a condition of use or continued use of an advertisement, to provide reasonable proof or clarification of statements contained in any advertisement shown on the Digital Media System. The Landlord is to be aware that any advertisement of civic, public service or other announcements or messages on the Digital Media System is not intended to nor do they create a public forum. The Digital Media System is not a non-public forum.

Functional Requirements

While the daily operation and maintenance of the Digital Media System is the responsibility of ISM Connect, the Landlord may be required to assist in the following activities:

  • 1. The Landlord and/or ISM Connect may revise the Advertising Standards from time to time by adding restrictions or prohibitions on the advertising of products that are substantially similar to alcohol, firearms or tobacco (as reasonably determined by the Landlord and/or ISM Connect).
  • 2. The Landlord will provide ISM Connect a list of advertisers which cannot be approached by ISM Connect and shall provide ISM Connect with clear guidelines and details of who those advertisers are and the reason they cannot be approached.

Content Management Process

  • 1. ISM Connect remotely manages all content from its offices located in Doylestown, PA.
  • 2. Landlord will have the ability to review all advertising if the Landlord so wishes as outlined in the Compliance Section of this policy. ISM Connect will maintain a reasonable list of advertisers/sponsors and categories, which would not be acceptable to ISM Connect. The Landlord may at its discretion provide additions to this list. This is standard practice and required for participation in the ISM Connect network. There are a number of reasons for some advertising clients to be excluded from the Digital Media System, for example existing corporate relationships, pending litigation, and misrepresentation of the ISM Connect corporate model. This process developed by ISM will be the operating guidelines (Advertising Standards) to be followed while running or creating content, and can ensure that no content is deployed to the screens that would violate those guidelines.
  • 3. All content will be run using a rotation schedule, which provides 1-2 weeks for Landlord and/or ISM Connect to review content as needed.
  • 4. Upon agreement, advertisers/sponsors will be given creative format guidelines. This is handled solely by ISM Connect as these are technical specifications for the type of media needed to run on the screens.
  • 5. The Digital Media System may be capable of interfacing with existing Landlord communications systems, in case of emergency. All material communicated in the event of an emergency must comply with this policy. Emergency broadcast material provided by the Landlord is the material, property, and responsibility of the Landlord.


Enforcement is a vital part of this policy and the following sections explain how compliance is achieved across the Digital Media System.

Approval Process

Upon the creation of new content, but before it is released onto the Digital Media System, there will be a review made by the Media Compliance Board. The Media Compliance Board shall be comprised of members of the ISM Connect management team and/or appointed employees. The review shall consist of The Media Compliance Board being presented all new content and comparing it against this policy. Any material that is found to be in violation shall be returned to the Creative Team for modification. Content that is approved shall be authorized for immediate release onto the Digital Media System. If the Landlord wishes to be a part of the Media Compliance Board for their respective venue they will need to notify ISM Connect’s management team. The request must include the name and contact information for the Landlord’s appointed representative.


There will be no exceptions to this policy in any Digital Media System regardless of the requestor, whether it be an advertiser, ISM Connect employee or the Landlord.


Any ISM Connect Employee found to have violated the covenants or procedures outlined in this policy may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Any consultant or contractor hired by ISM Connect found to have violated the covenants or procedures outlined in this policy may be subject to the cancellation of their contract and/or legal action as allowed by the governing laws.
